Window panels for Bill & Moira

Bill and Moira live in a traditional felt-roofed Tiree house, with deep-walled windows. Curtains, when opened, would obscure too much precious light. Panels of fabric hung on metal rods that can swing open to adorn the walls during the day are the answer, and offer the opportunity to weave a two-sided panel of colourful beauty.

I made three pairs of these in a gorgeous mix of warm golds and reds chosen by Moira, in a weave pattern that allows the reds to predominate on the ‘open’ side and the golds on the nightime ‘closed’ side….although these can be swapped around as desired. The Donegal tweed yarn offers winter warmth, while the slightly chunky weave allows pinpoints of dawn and dusk light to shine through.

“These curtain panels are stunning and fit the window space beautifully. Jules is both a talented designer and skilled craftsperson.” - Moira, November 2024
