Fenning’s Blanket
As well as my grandmother’s maiden name, Fenning is my brother’s given name. It seemed right and fitting therefore to give him my first go at a ‘double-weave’ blanket. By weaving two layers at once one can get a double width weave off a small loom. On a rigid heddle loom - which is what I was working on at the time - this is….quite a faff! In the event I somewhat ran out of energy and took it off the loom before I had quite woven the full length of the warps, the result being a square rather than a rectangular blanket. Luckily Fenning loves it for what it is, a true Cobbett and Fenning prototype. made in a gorgeous colour mix of 100% Peruvian Highland wool.
