Miles and Suzi asked for a huge multi-coloured blanket. As this was before I ventured into double-weave (cf “Fenning’s blanket”) I made four pieces, each full loom width and half the length of the full blanket, then stitched them together (blanket stitch, of course ;)

To me, four pieces immediately suggested four seasons, so I devised four check colourways to reflect Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Wet-finishing (the washing and drying process that transforms woven yarn into a unified cloth) rendered the mix of wool, silk, alpaca and mohair yarns into a glorious soft warmth to enfold oneself in. Overall, a rustic beauty.
