Cobbett & Fenning

makers and menders

A carpenter and

a weaver…

We hand make and mend a wide range of things, mainly in wood and yarn, in our home studio on the Hebridean Isle of Tiree, Scotland.

We conceived of Cobbett & Fenning, our grandmothers’ maiden surnames, in 2024, as our shared home studio began to take shape.

The studio had been our temporary home while we renovated the rest of the house. Once emptied of furnishings, we realised what a magnificent room it is, giving us both space and light, with a shared area for feet up and coffee moments. This represented the perfect opportunity for us both to explore our creativity.

Unique creations and sympathetic repairs

All of our creations are one-off pieces, as we continue to explore and develop our own skills and creative imaginings in the Cobbett & Fenning Studio, often sharing our ideas over coffee and a beach walk. We endeavour to use local, natural materials and utilise every last bit of wood or yarn in imaginative ways.

We love mending items that hold a story, cherished and well-loved items that hold sentimental or even historical significance. By listening to your hopes and considering what the item may need to gain strength and maintain integrity, we strive to keep both owner and item happy! You can see more of our mending work on our projects page.

“I’m just delighted to have a loved family item beautifully restored to where I can now use it daily without worry of damaging it further.”

-Ellie, about her mended bag, handmade in the 1960s by her aunt.
