Cobbett & Fenning
makers and menders
Weaving and Woodcraft
We hand make and mend a wide range of items, mainly in wood and yarn, in our studio at 22 Tolbooth Street, Forres, Scotland.
We conceived of Cobbett & Fenning (our grandmothers’ surnames) as a shared adventure of exploration into creativity, be that in the design and making of something new, or the mending and rejuvination of an old, tired or broken item.
We like the things we make to be both beautiful and useful, using natural, sustainably produced, re-usable and ultimately compostable materials.

Unique creations and sympathetic repairs
All of our creations are one-off pieces, as we continue to explore and develop our own skills and creative imaginings in the Cobbett & Fenning Studio, often sharing our ideas over coffee or a walk. We endeavour to use local, natural materials and utilise or re-purpose every last bit of wood or yarn in imaginative ways.
We love to find and mend interesting items that hold a history, or suggest a story.
We like to bring things back into use through sympathetic repair and a bit of tlc.
You can see some of our work on our projects page.
“I’m just delighted to have a loved family item beautifully restored to where I can now use it daily without worry of damaging it further.”
-Ellie, about her mended bag, handmade in the 1960s by her aunt.

We accept commissions, so please do get in touch.
